Wiem, że to żadne osiągnięcie, ale przedstawiam swojego pierwszego pieczonego kurczaka! Do tej pory jakoś unikałam kurczęcia jako całości. Nogi, skrzydełka, piersi, proszę bardzo, ale nie cały ptak :) Aż do tej pory - skusiłam się w sklepie na małego, 1,3 kg kurczaka i postanowiłam upiec go jak najprościej, żeby przypadkiem czegoś nie zepsuć. Trafiło na osławiony przepis Nigelli, z lekką modyfikacją. Rezultat - całkiem przyjemny, do powtórzenia, i zachęcający do eksperymentów :) A kości będą na wywar do żurku :)
KURCZĘ Z CYTRYNĄ W ZADKU
Potrzebne będą:
- 1 cały kurczak (mój miał 1300 g)
- 1 cytryna
- parę gałązek rozmarynu (bo miałam)
- 2 ząbki czosnku, zmiażdżone (taka fanaberia)
- masło
- oliwa
- sól i pieprz
Dla ilu osób: 2, z resztkami na jutro :)

ROAST CHICKEN WITH LEMON UP ITS BOTTOM
I know it's no big deal, but I just roasted my first chicken! So far I've been avoiding dealing with whole bird, some kind of irrational fear ;) Legs, wings, breast - no problem, but not whole chicken. Until now, that is. I bought this small, 1,3 kg birdie and decided to give it a go. I went really simple - with Nigella's slightly modified recipe. I really liked the result, so I'll definitely make it again and won't be afraid to experiment. And bones will make a nice stock for tomorrow's soup :)
You will need:
- 1 whole chicken (mine was 1,3 kg)
- 1 lemon
- few rosemary sprigs (happened to have it)
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed (just because)
- butter
- olive oil
- salt and pepper
Serves: 2 with some leftovers.

Hi Marta,
I am going to do this roast chicken perhaps this weekend but I am a bit nervous about buying the whole chicken here as I am not sure if the insides are still inside if you know what I mean! Also the neck is still on the Polish chickens in Tesco. Any advice? I guess I will have to just suck it up and get my hands dirty :P

I never bought whole chicken in Poland, but I'm pretty sure they would be gutted. You can just look inside ;) Chickens here have a little of loose skin around the neck so I just cut it off. Do the Polish ones have whole neck with bones?! Yuck. Generally, it's not the most pleasant task to prepare chicken for roasting, at least for me. Get gloves or something :] And let me know how it turned out!
